KATHMANDU, JUN 26 - Nepal lost to India by 81 runs despite a commendable bowling effort from the Nepali bowlers in the ACC U-19 Asia Cup at Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Tuesday. A disciplined Nepali bowling attack saw heavyweights India bowled out for meager 176 runs.

However, Nepal was given a reduced target of 173 runs after rain delayed the match in Bayuemas oval. Bhuvan Karki and Rahul Vishwakarma took three wickets each to restrict the southern neighbours in a less than par total within 46th over.

Baba Aparajith (55) and Unmukt Chand (47) produce a laudable performance in the innings where seven Indian batsmen failed to reach double figures. Man of the match in the last game, Sagar Pun, grabbed two wickets while Prithu Baskota and Avinash Karn took a wicket each.

In reply, Nepal could only muster 89 runs in 29.3 overs before they were also bowled out. Vikas Mishra took four wickets for India. Sandeep Sharma, Harmeet Singh, and Mohsin Sayyad supported him well taking two wickets apiece.

Bhuvan Karki was the only Nepali batsman who showed any resistance against the Indian attack. He scored 24 runs off 29 balls smashing four boundaries. Rahul Vishwakarma (14) and Rajesh Pulami Magar (17) got into promising starts, but failed to continue the momentum.

Nepal had bounced back from a loss in the opening match against Pakistan to secure a comprehensive win over Malaysia.

With the win, India has qualified for the knockouts alongside group winners Pakistan who won all the league matches against Nepal, India and hosts Malaysia.
