KATHMANDU, JUL 13 - Nepali ambassadors to Myanmar, Israel and Pakistan presented their credentials to the heads of state of the respective countries on Wednesday.
Nepali Ambassador to Myanmar Paras Ghimire presented his credentials to President of Myanmar Thein Sein and Nepali envoy to Israel Prahlad Kumar Prasai presented his papers to Israeli President Shimon Peres.
While accepting the credentials, President Sein expressed interest in a direct flight between Yangon and Lumbini and also in Nepal's agriculture development, tree plantation, mountaineering and trekking expeditions, according to a statement released by the Nepali Embassy in Myanmar.
Nepal's Ambassador to Pakistan Bharat Raj Paudyal presented his letters of credence to Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari at the Presidential Palace in Islamabad amid a special ceremony on Thursday.
Following the ceremony, the ambassador paid a courtesy call on the president where bilateral relations between the two countries were discussed. Nepal and Pakistan established diplomatic ties on March 20, 1960 and Nepal set up its embassy in Pakistan in 1962.
While accepting the credentials of Nepali envoy Prasai, Israeli President Peres said, "Nepal is an attraction for young Israelis who are captivated by its charm." The ambassador thanked the president and stated that "Nepal is grateful for the support and aid provided by Israel in the fields of education and agriculture and invites Israeli investors to take advantage of business opportunities in Nepal," according to the Israeli Foreign Ministry.
