KATHMANDU, JUL 13 -
Regular classes in all the campuses affiliated to Tribhuvan University and its research centres remained shut for the second consecutive day on Friday due to a shutdown called by the Tribhuvan University Teachers’ Association (TUTA).
Teachers of the country’s oldest university enforced the shutdown to press for their 22-point charter of demands including salary hike and uniform allowance on par with government officials. It has also warned of a stern protest if the demands were not fulfilled in time.
They have also demanded accident insurance, permanent status to temporary lecturers who have been serving in the university and no age bar for study leave.
Their other demands include permanent status to the trainers who have been working in the TU for years as temporary employees and the extension of age bar for study leave.
