Former senior leader of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Loktantrik (MJF-L) Sarat Singh Bhandari formally announced his new party, Rastriya Madhes Samajbadi Party under his leadership on Thursday.
The leaders ousted from the MJF-L formed the new party.
Bhandari made public party’s name, flag and code of conduct, following a close door session of the national gathering of the ousted leaders held in Kathmandu on Wednesday.
There will be 61 Central Committee members in the party excluding the office bearers. The CC will get full shape within few days, Bhandari informed. He further informed that party’s flag will have an image of half-rising sun in green and white background.
Bhandari said the party has been formed to guarantee rights of backward Madhesi people, women Dalit, Muslims, indigenous community.
“There will be two terms for party chairman. Each term will be of five years. In order to check the party chairman from taking unilateral decisions”, Bhandari said.
Bhandari was expelled from MJF-L stating that he was acting against the party interest and had “unauthorised” association with Broader Madhesi Front, a cross-party alliance of Madhesi leaders. Following Bhandari’s expulsion, many central committee members from MJF-L had resigned.
