JUN 24 -
It is an uncontested fact that fashion awareness—especially amongst women—in K-town is increasing day by day. Everyone is eager to be admired for their choice of attire. To those who want to venture into fashion that is at once chic and outrageous, the House of Ktm Vintage, newly opened at Durbar Marg, is worth a visit.
Specialising in vintage style clothing from the 1960s, the store includes fancy skirts, shorts, blazers, jeans, accessories and more that have been imported from the US and Canada.
Kalsang Dolkar Lama, who is owner along with her sister Yeshi Dolma, is the first person to bring this concept into Nepal. While her sister still resides in Canada, Lama recently returned to Nepal after completing her bachelor’s from New York. “Every item in our store has been carefully selected from the US or Canada and each piece is unique,” shared Lama, indicating that nobody else in the city will be wearing what you’ve bought from the store.
On Friday, when the House of Ktm Vintage first opened its doors to the city, it saw a lively crowd of women from all ages flock in, eager to be a part of the new trend the store is seeking to set. The
current collection offers a flashback loaded with style, bringing to life a vibrant and elegant era.
Dolkar Lhamo, a fashion blogger from Nepal who was flipping through the clothing on display, was equally happy to witness the arrival of a vintage clothing store in K-town.
“Since people’s taste in fashion repeats every now and then, people are now also looking for 60s type of clothing, which are all available here,” Lhamo commented. “It is preferably the best place for those looking for vintage ware.”
“We have dared to open this vintage store after studying fashion trends here for a long period,” stated the owner.
“What we found is that people are inclined towards older fashion. So we thought of giving it a try, and the response so far has been very good.”
