DOTI, JUN 28 -

A woman seriously injured in the Doti minibus crash on Tuesday died undergoing treatment at Bareli in India on the same night. The victim was identified as Sandhya Mahata, 30, of Chipur, Dadeldhura.

With her death, the toll in the accident that took place at Rupaskada of Chhatiban VDC along the Bhim Dutta Highway has gone up to 12.

Meanwhile, Sandhya’s daughters Rojina and Babita, who were also injured in the accident, were discharged from hospital on Wednesday.

Incidents of road accidents have increased in Doti of late. Road accidents in the district have claimed the lives of 29 people in the past three months. On May 30, a jeep accident at Khirsain had killed 13 people.

Deputy Superinte-ndent of Police Bharat Bahadur Oli said carrying passengers exceeding the limit and reckless driving could be the reasons for the increasing number of accidents in the district.

As the roads are precarious and full of tight corners, it demands experienced drivers to maneuver vehicles. Tuesday’s accident took place at one of the many sharp turns along the highway.
