Friends’ Club on Tuesday strengthened their squad for the new football season by roping in three Nepal internationals—Sagar Thapa, Nirajan Khadka and Deepak Bhusal.
Friends’ Club President Ratna Sumsher Rana unveiled the signings amid a function at the club house at Kupdandole. Rana said he was delighted to get the service of the three players who had begun their top-flight career from the Kupdandole-based outfit.
The club, however, refrained from disclosing the fee of the players but said it had reached an understanding with the trio.
“We have not finalised the fee yet but the players are happy quite happy to be here. We are striving to change the face of the club by enrolling many prolific players and our aim is to ompete in the AFC Presidents Cup.” said Rana.
Speaking at the program, skipper Thapa said that he was honored to be with the club where he had kicked started his career and he was emboldened with the trust banked upon them by the club.
“I feel like I am at home now, I am privileged with the love and faith the club has shown us. I believe th love and trust shown by the club will help us reach new heights.”
Thapa started his club level football from Friends in 2001 and moved to Sankata Club in the next season. Likewise, Khadka started in 2004 before moving to Three Star Club, while Bhushal played for the club in 2010.
