KATHMANDU, JUL 12 -

The UCPN (Maoist) and the CPN-Maoist on Wednesday formed a joint taskforce to settle disputes over the ownership of property and party offices across the country.

The disputes arose after the hard-line faction of the Maoist party led by Mohan Baidya split to form a new party on June 18.

UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal himself approached Baidya to discuss the issue. The leaders of the two parties agreed to form a taskforce in a meeting at Dahal’s residence.

Cadres of the two parties have clashed across the country, most recently in Chitwan, each side claiming the property and offices of the Maoist party.

The taskforce consists of Agni Sapkota and Krishna Bahadur Mahara from the UCPN (Maoist) and Dev Gurung and Hitman Shakya from the CPN-Maoist.
