KATHMANDU, JUL 04 -
The leadership row in the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Ganatatrik has taken a new turn with Rajkishore Yadav—who was “ousted” from the position of officiating chairman after a majority members of the party’s Central Committee claimed to have sacked Yadav on June 26—writing to the Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday not to implement the decision notified to the constitutional body earlier by 12 CC members.
In his letter to the EC, Yadav has claimed that he is still the officiating chairman as the CC decision on February 23 to appoint him as the party chief has been notified to the EC. Yadav stated further that the party has notified the constitutional body only about the positions of chairman and co-chairman and that no official information about general secretary or a senior leader of the party was submitted to the EC. He argues that as provisioned by party by-laws, he continues to be the officiating chairman. The CC meeting of June 26 is said to have been chaired by Atma Ram Sah, the party’s supposed general secretary. But Yadav states that no official decision was ever taken to appoint Sah to the post.
Yadav claims the meeting to be “unlawful” as he was not informed about it as the officiating chairman despite his presence in Kathmandu on the day. He regrets to have not been given a chance to clarify his position in line with party by-laws.
The June 26 meeting, the minutes of which have been presented to the EC, decided that Nandan Dutt would replace Yadav as the officiating chairman as the latter “acted against party interests”.
