KATHMANDU, JUN 26 - CPN-UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal raised questions on the response of Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai after Bhattarai’s return from the UN Conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
UML Chairman Khanal said that PM Bhattarai’s statement of continuing in the premiership is no more than a child’s tantrums.
Earlier on Monday, PM Bhattarai had ruled out the possibility of his resignation anytime soon. PM Bhattarai said he would hand over the PM's office only to an elected prime minister.
Khanal was at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital at Maharajgunj to visit Nepali Congress Vice President Ram Chandra Poudel.
“No news of force from Rio would work in Nepal. At a time when he should be working for political consensus, PM Bhattarai is throwing childish tantrums,” said Khanal.
Furthermore, Khanal urged PM Bhattarai to resign from his post to make way for a national consensus government.
PM returned from Brazil after attending the three-day high-level United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development held in Brazil from June 20-22. PM had left for Brazil on June 18 notwithstanding the protests from various quarters.
