KAKADVITTA, AUG 08 -

CPN-UML Vice Chairman Ashok Rai accused his party UML and Nepali Congress (NC) of provoking the president to become active.

Addressing an assembly organised to mark the 18th World Indigenous Day at Birtamod in Jhapa district on Wednesday, Rai warned the UML and NC to refrain from pushing the nation into another conflict by making the president active.  He advised the political parties to arrive at consensus to revive the Constituent Assembly.

At the programme, Chairman Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (Nefin) Raj Kumar Lekhi threatened to not spare those who protest the campaign of indigenous people. But he quickly added that the objective of indigenous agitation is not to disintegrate the nation but to go for an identity based federalism.

Lekhi dubbed former Chairman of the dissolved Constituent Assembly (CA), Subash Nembang, and Bijay Gachhadar as betrayer. He accused the political leaders of being the murder of CA. He blamed their incompetence for the failure to draft the new constitution. He called on the indigenous people to smear black on the faces of political leaders.

Likewise, Nefin General Secretary Aang Kaji Sherpa challenged that the indigenous people would run their parallel administration if a consensus government was not formed within a month. He claimed that the people are not in a position to accept the authority of the party.
