KATHMANDU, JUN 24 -

Former US Ambassador to Nepal Scott H DeLisi is leaving for the United States on Sunday evening after completing his tenure in Nepal.

‘This evening I leave for the United States and ultimately to Uganda. Let me just offer a final farewell and wish all my Nepali friends the best for the future. To my Ugandan friends I look forward to my arrival in the Pearl of Africa,’ DeLisi wrote on his Facebook status.

During his 30 years as a diplomat, DeLisi has served as Ambassador to the State of Eritrea and as Deputy Chief of Mission of the American Embassy in Gaborone, Botswana.  Ambassador DeLisi was nominated by US President Barack Obama in November 2009 to be Ambassador to the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal and confirmed by the Senate in March 2010.

On January 24, 2012, President Obama nominated DeLisi as ambassador to Uganda.
