SEOUL, JUN 24 -
Nepali Ambassador to Korea Kaman Singh Lama has condemned the Indian Ambassador to Korea Vishnu Prakash for stating that Mount Everest lies in India.
India’s ambassador to South Korea, Vishnu Prakash Bharati in an interview with the Korea Times Daily on June 10, 2012, had claimed that the majestic Mount Everest lies within the Indian Territory.
“The northeastern part of India, where it borders China, offers the most beautiful scenic views thanks to Mt. Everest,” Prakash had said.
Ambassador Lama raised concern over the matter citing that it is an attack on the sovereignty of Nepal. “We cannot forgive such statements that raise question over the sovereignty of the nation. I had talked to Prakash on the matter. He has assured to address the matter through the same paper, but he has not done so,” said Lama.
Saying that such statement from a diplomat is very atrocious, Lama said that a letter has been sent to the Indian Embassy for the same and statements have been taken from the reporter as well.
