RAJBIRAJ, JUN 29 -

The Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital has been stinking after neither the Rajbiraj Municipality, hospital nor the local administration showed any concern for managing a dead body which was not accepted by the relatives for the past five days.

Hospital staff, patients and attendants have been affected as bad stench spreads from the rotting body of Shyam Magar, 50, who died Monday while undergoing treatment at the Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital in Rajbiraj.

Magar, who was down with a bout of coughing, had been admitted by Pradip Shrestha of Rajbiraj -4 on June 20. But the municipality has not shown any concern even if the local administration and hospital requested the municipality to remove it.

Magar, who was living by cleaning utensils of two to three hotels in municipality road, had many times cleaned the utensils of the municipality staff, but ironically, the very municipality is hesitating to remove the body.

Mentally retarded and stooped while walking, Magar’s address was not known. He was single and making a living by cleaning hotel utensils in Rajbiraj for the past thirty years.

Doctors and cleaning staff of the hospital have denied undertaking postmortems unless the body is removed as they are compelled to work by covering their noses in and around the hospital. RSS
