UDAYPUR, JUN 29 -

Started in 2061 BS, its construction was completed in 2064 BS, but as it is not used, people have to visit Lahan of Siraha and Rajbiraj Zonal Hospital of Saptari for blood, said Senior Doctor of the District Hospital Chuman Lal Das.

District Hospital doctors say the blood bank was not brought into operation even if the responsibility was given to the District Red Cross Society.

Some locals accuse that it could not come into use because of the irresponsibility of the District Red Cross representative even if a large amount was assisted by the locals and those in foreign jobs from Udayapur for running it.

The building is now full of cobwebs and the building has turned into a ghost shelter, said CPN- Maoist District Secretary Himal Singh Rai.

Rs five million spent on it has been wasted, says CPN-UML leader Udaya Adhikari and NC's Bhupendra Thapa.

Locals have been pointing fingers on the Red Cross, some party leaders for the non operation of the building even as the locals, DDC and Triyuga municipality had cooperated for running it. RSS
